You know that things have hit a new low when celebrity pastors no longer bother to get dressed or comb their hair before addressing the world. YouTube has a clip of Pastor Ed Young delivering his fascinating plans for the week while in his bathrobe and featuring bed-head hair. When you are that important, you don’t actually have to bother to put clothes on or comb your hair. The world is waiting for your next tweet, your next video blog, your next sentence. They want to know what you ate for breakfast, what digestive disturbances you are having, and what your sleep attire looks like. Tommy Tenney tweeted about how “brave” Ed Young was to go online in his bathrobe. No Tommy, that’s not bravery, that’s called narcissism.

Looks like Young may be starting a whole new trend. Webcams in bedrooms might replace plexiglass pulpits soon, actually. Cutting-edge pastors can read their borrowed sermons while wearing their Sponge Bob jammies, and congregations can stay at home in their own jammies to watch it online. Remember that you read it here first.

Last week I posted a link to Dr. John MacArthur’s piece on the great evangelical mess we see around us. I preceded his link with comments about the various fads in the church over the years, including but not limited to, Stryper, the 80’s Christian alternative to KISS, as well as the Left Behind money-maker. Today, a press release arrived that promotes not one of these fads, but three. In my earlier piece, I left out Digital Praise, another evangelical product that supposedly provides a Christian response to DDR (Dance Dance Revolution.) You really can’t make this stuff up.

NEWARK, Calif., March 10 /Christian Newswire/ — Digital Praise® Inc, the leader in Christian-themed, family-friendly entertainment software and currently under pending merger agreement with Left Behind Games (OTC: LFBG), today announced it has entered into a strategic relationship with Stryper, the top- selling Christian metal band. Together, Digital Praise and Stryper intend to develop new products leveraging the band’s top live performance recordings.

“This is our first opportunity to license music directly from a top Christian artist,” said Tom Bean, President and CEO of Digital Praise. “It is unbelievable to be working with Stryper, the first openly Christian heavy metal band to gain recognition in the mainstream music world. The idea of creating the first band-specific expansion packs for our guitar and dance games is another first for Stryper.”

“Since 1984, Stryper has always been a band on the cutting edge that has broken down barriers,” said Dave Rose of talent agency Deep South Entertainment, which represents Stryper. “During their 25th Anniversary World Tour, legions of loyal Stryper fans have been coming out to experience the energy of their favorite Stryper songs performed live. So it’s exciting that Digital Praise is planning on merging the world of interactive games and the live Stryper experience. Both Stryper and Digital Praise are once again on the cutting edge of technology and music. We’re thrilled to be involved.”

Digital Praise is excited to be working with Stryper and has already started working with many of the live Stryper recordings.

About Stryper:
Looking back over the last 25 years, Stryper is considered a groundbreaking act by all accounts. Since the band’s label debut in 1984, the quartet has sold more than 8 million albums worldwide. The first Christian rock band to enjoy decided success in the mainstream market, Stryper’s RIAA certified platinum 1986 magnum opus To Hell with the Devil is listed among the “100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music” as designated by CCM Magazine. One of the most mesmerizing stage acts still today, Stryper received tremendous exposure on television’s MTV and VH1, paving the way for more faith- fueled bands to be considered for airplay. “We attribute so much of our success to God,” Stryper founding member Michael Sweet says unashamedly. “He has orchestrated this band, and His hand has been on it from the beginning. We often ask Him, ‘Why did You choose us?’ We are just average guys who He has continued to use in amazing ways.” For more information about Stryper and the upcoming tour, visit www.stryper.com.

About Digital Praise Inc.
Digital Praise is a developer of family-friendly Christian entertainment software for personal computers and other devices including iPhones. The company produces, publishes and distributes titles for families who enjoy interactive entertainment software with principled character-building themes and “just good clean fun.” On February 25, 2010, Left Behind Games, Inc. (OTC: LFBG) announced that it has entered into an agreement to merge with Digital Praise, making Digital Praise its wholly-owned subsidiary. Pending SEC approval, the transaction is anticipated to close in Q2 of 2010. For more information, visit www.digitalpraise.com…

Anti-bullying legislation in a bill in Massachusetts is a serious threat to free speech. MassResistance.org has more:

Massachusetts may be on the verge being another “first” in America which could spread to other states.

On Thursday, the Massachusetts Senate votes on a bill containing draconian language that would criminalize criticism of homosexuality published on Web sites and other media with fines of up to a thousand dollars and imprisonment.

The language was apparently added to specifically target MassResistance which has publicly exposed many the homosexual and transgender movement’s outrageous activities, largely funded by tax dollars, particularly regarding children. In addition, MassResistance has angered the homosexual lobby with hard-hitting State House testimony at several public hearings in recent months, and embarrassed legislators by posting videos of their anti-family remarks at State House functions and photos of them at gay lobbying events. A few weeks ago the Senate President’s office called our office about a photo and comment we posted from the “transgender lobby day”. To put it lightly, they’re not too happy with us.

The bill would write following into the Massachusetts General Laws:

“Whoever publishes any false material whether written, printed, electronic, televised, or broadcast with intent to maliciously promote hatred of any group of persons in the commonwealth because of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, or disability shall be guilty of libel and shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both.”

This is very extreme. Similar laws have been used in Canada and other countries to snuff out critical reporting on the homosexual movement and severely prosecute offenders. Note that the word “hatred” is not defined and is thus completely subjective. And “false material” lays the burden of proof on the accused, under the judgment of a court or tribunal. So even the threat of a long, expensive trial is enough to silence just about everyone.

The strategy of labeling of people with traditional values as “haters” (or “hate groups”) and their reasoned arguments (or normal reactions to blatant perversion) as “hatred” is offensive and detestable. But the Massachusetts Legislature seems to have no problem with that.

Language apparently added at last minute by committee chairmen

This was included as a separate unrelated section of bill S2283, which is a very troubling bill overall. It is a comprehensive school “anti-bullying” bill which is being heavily promoted by the homosexual lobby and other special-interest groups.

The bill, S2283, titled “An Act Relative to Bullying in Schools”, was drafted last month by the Joint Education Committee. Bill S2283 is a consolidation of sixteen anti-bullying bills filed at the beginning of the session, according to the State House website. The public hearing for those bills – at which MassResistance testified – was on Nov. 17, 2009.

However, (1) none of those sixteen bills had this extra language in it. Moreover, (2) the entire bill except for that section deals with students relating to other students regarding “bullying” in schools. But that section addresses the entire population regarding “hatred” of classes of people.

This was clearly put in afterwards, for the specific purpose of stopping groups like MassResistance.

The language appears to have been added to the bill by chairmen of the Joint Education Committee, Rep. Martha Walz (D-Boston) and Sen. Robert O’Leary (D-Barnstable), who have publicly taken responsibility for the content of the bill. Both of them have significant anti-family voting records and were visibly hostile during the public hearings that MassResistance testified at. In addition, they’ve been working closely with the coalition of special-interest groups pushing the “anti-bullying” bill, which includes the major homosexual and transgender lobby groups.

“Criminalizing Christianity”

There have already been instances in Canada where even posting passages from the Bible has been considered “inciting hatred” and brought trials and punishment on people of faith. Here’s just one example: “Canadian Human Rights Commissions Bear Down on Christian Clergymen”.

This is the direction that the homosexual movement wants to take America. And Massachusetts is their starting point. They are targeting MassResistance now — but who is next?

Take action RIGHT NOW:

Castro Valley, CA – A Bay Area high school that attracted controversy last year for its “Days of Diversity” program is again welcoming pro-gay speakers this week. But the school has rejected a request by a student Christian club to host an HIV-positive speaker whose experience with homosexuality proved to be life-threatening.

Castro Valley High School sparked controversy last year by hosting several questionable presenters, including Rev. Arlene K Nehring, a lesbian minister who talked to students in math and science classes about her gay wedding, encouraged them to “come out” to God, their families and themselves, and invited them to a gay prom at her church. Because of the religious overtones in past and pending presentations, students in the Revelation Club were surprised when the school rejected their request to host Christopher Yuan because of “separation of church and state.” Mr. Yuan is HIV-positive and had been invited by the students to speak on the topic “Christian, Gay, and Celibate.” In addition, it appears that the school has blocked links relating to Mr. Yuan, though continuing to allow access to gay websites.

Attorneys for Pacific Justice Institute sent a letter to the high school late last week, demanding that CVHS drop its illegal viewpoint discrimination. PJI Chief Counsel Kevin Snider commented, “It has become clear that Castor Valley High School is seeking to silence the student club and Mr. Yuan because his experiences with homosexuality were not positive, and he encourages celibacy. The school’s favoritism toward some religious and political viewpoints, and disfavor toward other positions, is blatantly unconstitutional.”

Vika Mukha, president of the Revelation Club at CVHS, commented, “I support respect and diversity for all people, but it must be true diversity in which all people are given a voice. If only one side is heard, that is indoctrination, not education. I hope CVHS respects these principles by allowing ex-gays to have a voice at Days of Diversity and allowing our Christian club to invite speakers of our choice.”

###

The Pacific Justice Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties. Pacific Justice Institute works diligently, without charge, to provide their clients with all the legal support they need. Pacific Justice Institute’s strategy is to coordinate and oversee large numbers of concurrent court actions through a network of over 1,000 affiliate attorneys nationwide. And, according to former US Attorney General Edwin Meese, “The Institute fills a critical need for those whose civil liberties are threatened.” “Through our dedicated attorneys and supporters, we defend the rights of countless individuals, families and churches… without charge.”

Brent Bozell writes about the pro-death response of the media after a woman posted video footage of herself having an at-home abortion.

Newsweek’s Sarah Kliff proclaimed: “One hundred thousand people have watched Angie Jackson’s abortion. Late last month, Jackson posted a video of herself to YouTube, recorded after she took RU-486, a medication used to end pregnancies.” Kliff asked only “why shame remains” about the act of killing one’s baby. Jackson was honored for her courage in “demystifying” and “destigmatizing” the procedure: “We need 10,000 more of her,” proclaimed Peg Johnston, chair of something called the Abortion Care Network. This desire for 10,000 more unashamed abortions is what “pro-choice” is all about. Read his column here.

T.D. Jakes will be a featured speaker at Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit 2010. Jakes denial of the Trinity is no problem for Bill Hybels who only teaches leadership skills. Where leaders are actually taking people doesn’t concern him in the least. Worse still, Jakes is now turning Communion into an erotic act. Pastor Larry DeBruyn has written an article warning about Jakes’ teachings. Here’s just one example from T.D. Jakes:

When Jesus says, ‘Take, eat. This is my body that was broken for you,’ He says, I want my body in you. (Pause . . . shouts and claps) I want my blood in you. And every time you celebrate this rite, it is a reminder that you belong to me, and I belong to you. And he said, ‘I will drink no more wine until I drink it new with you and the kingdom of God. Communion is the most romantic ordinance. Eh, Eh, Eh. (He laughs. Pause . . . the audience shouts and claps.) It is the most romantic ordinance between two lovers.

SPRINGFIELD — – Gov. Pat Quinn on Tuesday unveiled a caustic budget plan that would borrow billions of dollars to stay afloat and push even more debt down the road, hoping to persuade leery lawmakers to instead raise taxes in an election year.

Quinn aides warned the plan would cost some 13,000 teachers and staff their jobs, cut off poor seniors from help in paying for costly prescriptions and shut down some health care programs for the indigent. But even after about $2 billion in cuts, the state would still be $11 billion in the hole. Story here.

Illinois, like most of America, is going under financially, and is going to have to raise taxes on struggling taxpayers to survive.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts said Tuesday the scene at President Obama’s State of the Union address was “very troubling” and the annual speech has “degenerated to a political pep rally.”
Obama chided the court, with the justices seated before him in their black robes, for its decision on a campaign finance case.
Responding to a University of Alabama law student’s question, Roberts said anyone was free to criticize the court, and some have an obligation to do so because of their positions.
“So I have no problems with that,” he said. “On the other hand, there is the issue of the setting, the circumstances and the decorum.
“The image of having the members of one branch of government standing up, literally surrounding the Supreme Court, cheering and hollering while the court — according the requirements of protocol — has to sit there expressionless, I think is very troubling.” Read the AP story here.

College newspapers are fun to read, especially the opinion sections. At ultra-liberal schools, they are almost scary how honest the young writers are:

Daily Cardinal (UW-Madison) 3/10/2010: “Abortion Debate Wrongly Focused”

As an avid proponent of a woman’s right to choose…we must reconcile ourselves with the fact that, by definition, an abortion terminates a life, and specifically, a human life. This unfortunate fact does not negate the validity of the pro-choice argument by any means. By jumping on the false issue of the definition of “alive,” we on the pro-choice side are losing sight of the real issue: the need to keep the control of women’s bodies in their own hands.

Daily Cardinal (UW-Madison) 3/9/2010: “Babies and Pregnant Women are Repulsive”

[E]very time I look at a baby, I feel my arteries tighten and waves of nausea crash through my body…. There are a lot of things about babies and the idea of getting pregnant that I can’t stand. Most prominently: the fat factor. While my body is nowhere near my idea of perfection, I’m pretty sure that there’s no faster way to destroy your physique than shoving a baby into your stomach…. Sometimes I think to myself: If I ever accidentally had a baby, would I kill it out of envy? I’m way too selfish to sacrifice my “Me” time for “Mini Me” time.
