Our Death President marches on. The latest appointee, made without benefit of Senate scrutiny, is a big advocate of health care rationing. ‘Hope and change’ coming your way soon.
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The reaction from pro-life advocates against the recess appointment of rationing advocate Donald Berwick to head up Medicare and Medicaid has been strong. They are very concerned Berwick, named to the post by Obama today after no hearings in the Senate, will promote rationing.
“Donald Berwick is a one-man death panel,” said David N. O’Steen, director of National Right to Life.
“While Americans may not remember the agency he heads, he will quickly become known as Obama’s rationing czar,” he told LifeNews.com
Burke Balch, an attorney who is the director of medical ethics for the National Right to Life Committee, also chimed in on the appointment.
“The Obama recess appointment of rationing advocate Donald Berwick to head the key government agency that will apply the new health care law is disastrous news for the vulnerable, especially the elderly and the sickest of American patients,” he said.
He said Obama’s recess appointment is “an attempt to avoid examination, through the pending confirmation process, of Berwick’s well-documented support for rationing health care.” Here’s the story from Lifenews.com.
Here’s a shocker. We’ve been lied to by Barack Obama about health care rationing (among other things.) CNS News reports:
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs Medicare, is a strong supporter of the government-run health care system in Britain, who said in a 2009 interview about Comparative Effectiveness Research: “The decision is not whether or not we will ration care–the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”
The $787-billion stimulus law signed by President Obama created a Federal Coordinating Coucil for Comparative Effectivieness research in health care that some critics argue was a step toward rationing of heatlh care in the United States. Read the story here.
Rasmussen reports:
Support for repeal of the new national health care plan has jumped to its highest level ever. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 63% of U.S. voters now favor repeal of the plan passed by congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Obama in March.
Prior to today, weekly polling had shown support for repeal ranging from 54% to 58%. Currently, just 32% oppose repeal. The new findings include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal of the health care bill and 25% who Strongly Oppose it. While opposition to the bill has remained as consistent since its passage as it was beforehand, this marks the first time that support for repeal has climbed into the 60s. It will be interesting to see whether this marks a brief bounce or indicates a trend of growing opposition. Read the article here.
The Congressional Budget Office reports that Obamacare will cost $1 trillion dollars. Let that sink in. Here’s more from Politico:
Congressional Budget Office estimates released Tuesday predict the health care overhaul will likely cost about $115 billion more in discretionary spending over ten years than the original cost projections.
The additional spending — if approved over the years by Congress — would bring the total estimated cost of the overhaul to over $1 trillion.
Republicans pounced on the news, which they called another sign that the Obama administration makes promises it cannot deliver.
“The American people wanted one thing above all from health care reform: lower costs, which Washington Democrats promised, but they did not deliver,” said House Minority Leader John A Boehner (R-Ohio). “It was clearly irresponsible for Washington Democrats to force this legislation through Congress without being truthful about its full impact on the nation’s finances. Republicans are fighting to repeal this job-killing health care law and replace it with reforms focused first on lowering costs and protecting American jobs.”
Welcome to hope and change. Our pathologically lying President won’t admit it, but his budget director will. Health care rationing boards will decide your level of medical care, not your doctor.
Americans are dialing up insurance companies and hospitals asking where they can sign up for the “free Obamacare.” What a brutal shock it is for these people to learn that their messiah hasn’t turned the water into wine. This report underscores the unbelievable bureaucratic and economic nightmare our President has created. There’s no going back now, folks.
Operation Rescue reports on the hate messages they have been receiving from child-killing fans since the passage of the health care bill.
Wichita, KS – Telephones at Operation Rescue’s national headquarters were inundated with hateful messages in the wake of the weekend vote on health care in the House of Representatives. Operation Rescue has been outspoken in its opposition to the Obama health care takeover plan, especially provisions that would provide taxpayer funding for abortions.
The calls filled the mailboxes of several extensions and ranged from nonsensical messages, to sexually explicit “dirty phone calls,” to anti-Christian, hate-filled tirades. In weeks preceding the vote Operation Rescue staff members received death threats.
“Normally we don’t give the threats and hateful calls we receive much thought. But lately there has been much made about threats to Democrats that supported the health care takeover, and we thought that people needed to know that the hate calls are flowing both ways,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
“This kind of harassment and intimidation will never deter us from our mission to save the lives of innocent babies and stop abortion in our nation,” said Newman. “However, we do take security precautions and are working with the FBI, which continues to investigate death threats against me and my staff.”

Washington, DC – Rep. Bart Stupak caved in on his commitment to oppose the pro-abortion health care bill today by making a special deal with the White House. In exchange for Stupak’s vote and that of the others in his coalition, Obama has agreed to sign an executive order after the health care bill is passed that would supposedly prohibit public funds from paying for abortions, especially in community health clinics that are slated to receive a huge boost in tax funding.
However, Obama’s executive order can be rescinded at any time, and will likely expire well before the health care plan will go into effect four years from now – if he even signs the order at all. More importantly, the law as written trumps an executive order making it likely that the order would not hold up in court if challenged by the abortion lobby.
The Stupak coalition support will presumably allow the highly unpopular health bill to pass later this evening.
“This should really be called the Planned Parenthood bailout bill,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Obama told Planned Parenthood that abortion funding is at the heart of his health care proposal and that he would not yield on that issue. When you take out something’s heart it dies.
“Stupak’s, executive order isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. We predict that as surely as the sun rises in the east, something will happen to negate that executive order between now and when the funding will begin. Stupak has made a deal with the devil that will cost millions of lives.”
Even if Obama’s health care bill is finally signed into law, there remain constitutional questions about provisions, especially those that would force the uninsured to buy government insurance then levy fines and other punishment on those who do not buy the required insurance. Over 30 State Attorneys General have vowed to challenge the legality and constitutionality the bill in court.
“Operation Rescue supports efforts to oppose this ill-conceived abortion-funding scheme in the streets through peaceful protest, in the courts, and at the ballot box,” said Newman. “We are taking notes, and will let it be known that a vote for this health care bill is a vote for abortion. It is certain that in spite of the outcome of today’s political shenanigans, this is not over yet.”

WASHINGTON, March 21 /Christian Newswire/ — “Today is a tragic and sad day for America. As part of health care legislation, we are now asking all Americans to pay for the killing of innocent children through abortion with their tax dollars.
“As we have been saying during this entire debate, abortion is not health care. Health care should be about compassion and mercy not violence and the diminishing of women.
“Although the pro-life and faith community is profoundly saddened by this vote, we are also highly motivated and energized as we look toward the midterm congressional elections in the fall of 2010.
“We plan to mobilize the pro-life and faith community in record numbers to see that Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid no longer serve in those positions during the next Congress.
“Our message will be clear and simple to the voters this fall regarding every member of Congress who supported this legislation. Here it is: These legislators who voted for the passage of this health care bill are the ones who are now forcing you to pay for the killing of innocent children with your tax dollars.
“We are confident this will have a powerful impact on Catholic and Evangelical voters this November.
“After the defeat of the Alamo, a powerful cry was heard across the nation which has inspired Americans for generations. That cry was, ‘Remember the Alamo!’
“From the ashes of this defeat, another powerful cry will be heard. ‘Remember March 21!’ We believe as Americans understand what happened today they will work with unprecedented passion to ensure this bill is reversed and human rights and social justice are once again embraced in this country.”

WASHINGTON, March 21 /Christian Newswire/ — Statement by Americans United for Life Action President & CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest:
“Today, Congress ignored the explicit wishes of the American people by voting to establish taxpayer- funded abortion. This reversal of long-standing federal policy will not stand. Furthermore, the assurance by the White House to address the problem of abortion funding in the health care bill through use of an executive order is an open acknowledgement that the bill just passed is pro-abortion legislation.
“The AUL legal team has concluded that an executive order is not an adequate fix to mitigate this legislation’s establishment of taxpayer-funded abortion. An executive order, for example, cannot prevent insurance companies that pay for abortions in the exchanges from receiving federal subsidies.
“We will work to dismantle taxpayer-funded abortion at the federal level and begin an aggressive, state-by- state campaign to help states opt out of subsidizing plans that cover abortions through their exchanges. We will also seek every opportunity to litigate this matter in the courts. Given that seven out of ten voters agree that no public funds should pay for abortion, I am confident that with hard work we will succeed.”
