Proving once again that there’s more than one kind of circus church, the Institute for Religion in Democracy has issued this statement regarding the latest bishop approved by the Jerry Springer Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
Washington, DC—A controversial candidate for bishop in the U.S. Episcopal Church has received the necessary approval, according to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. Following her December election, the Rev. Canon Mary Glasspool of Baltimore needed to obtain consent from a majority of bishops and diocesan standing committees.
Glasspool will become the first partnered openly lesbian bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion if she is installed as scheduled on May 15.
After the partnered openly homosexual Gene Robinson was installed as Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003, bodies of the worldwide Anglican Communion warned the Episcopal Church not to repeat the action. It observed a moratorium on consecration of non-celibate homosexual bishops for a time, but lifted the moratorium at last year’s General Convention.
Jeff Walton, Director of IRD’s Anglican Action Program, commented:
“Glasspool’s election is unfortunate because she has unapologetically taken sexual expression outside of the God-ordained boundary of Holy Matrimony. In the view of the wider Anglican Communion, this practice makes her unqualified to serve in the role of a bishop.
“Glasspool’s election is the next step in the Episcopal Church’s liberalizing trajectory. After revoking a moratorium on the consecration of non-celibate homosexual bishops during its July General Convention, the denomination made clear that it was going to proceed on this route, despite protests from other Anglicans.
“Consent to Glasspool’s election by the Episcopal Church shows how little the U.S.-based denomination cares about what other parts of the global Anglican Communion believe.
“The majority of the Episcopal Church is increasingly practicing a separate faith than what most worldwide Anglicans practice.
“Glasspool’s election and consecration comes at the same time as the Episcopal Church reports steep declines in attendance. Interestingly, the traditionalist Anglican Church in North America (AC-NA) has added 100 new congregations since July.”

So they have a gay bishop and a lesbian bishop now. They nearly had a buddhist bishop last year, maybe next time. Moving down the list they just need a bisexual bishop (faithful to only one husband and one wife at a time!), a trangender bishop, then of course a muslim bishop (they had a recent muslim priest, so nearly there on that count, but one of the few remaining Orthodox bishops inhibited her, I'm sure to the fury of her fellow bishops). Circus church indeed. But a Christian church? Not so sure anymore….
As Sister Ingrid alway's say's “This is an apostate church.” This so called Bishop. Her lifestyle is an affront unto the Lord of Heaven. 1 Tim 2:12″ and I do not oermit a woman to teach or have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” I make no apologies for writing this it is the Word of God. We either repent and walk with the Lord Jesus all of our day's. Or those who live a lifestyle in open rebellion against God will burn in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.
Interesting – Jesus constantly affirms those the religious leadership marginalizes and damns. His love is an all-embracing love, even for the self-righteous.
If we are, indeed, to judge others by their fruits, the ministry of Gene Robinson and Mary Glasspool have been as fruitful as any in terms of people served, the gospel preached and the church strengthened.
Jesus is clear about the heart of our calling — see the Beatitudes and Matthew 25. The real Clown Car is filled with those who ignore that and substitute ancient phobias, instead.
Tom Woodward
Thomas, Jesus affirms those engaging in sodomy? Is that what you're saying? Do you own a Bible? Have you ever read Romans 1? Gene Robinson and Mary Glasspool are rebelling against God's created and stated order. It is the ultimate 'in your face' attack on God, an assault on the very image of Christ and his Bride, the church, of which marriage is a picture. God called sodomy an “abomination.” Your are being willfully blind, as is typical of those who have thrown out the Word of God as the standard and instead go after the lusts of their own heart. When the Bible is no longer authoritative in faith and practice, as is the case in the shambolic Episcopal church, there is no bottom to how far down people will go in the name of religion. Shame.
Yes, Jesus is very clear, “Repent and believe the gospel.”
Jesus is very clear about the commandment that counts – and that is that we love one another. Do you have any references to where in the Gospel Jesus exempts gay and lesbian people from the Blessedness of the Beatitudes? where he condemns those who break the old Purity Code? Actually, he does quite the opposite.
The problem here is that you want to argue a couple of verses of Pau which, of course, do not address committed, loving relationships between two people (they refer to relationships of domination and male prostitutes). I prefer to argue from the Gospels.
Do you also advocate the killing of children who disobey their parents? That comes from the same source as the prohibition of male prostitutes having sex with other males.
I think your condemnation of innocent, loving people makes you a great candidate for repentance.
Again, repent and believe in the gospel. Turn from your sin and your own desires and submit to the will of God. Teaching people the truth, as outlined in God's word, is what we are commanded to do. What we are not commanded to do is, change what God has said and replace it with culture's definition of love and tolerance. The most loving thing we can do is to tell people to turn from their sin and place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Urging people to repent isn't condemning at all; it is having compassion and love to tell people that God wants to free them from the power of sin and the wrath to come.
This particular brand of Episcopalianism is foreign to the Word of God. They are an apostate
branch that is shaking their fist in the face of God and daring God to do something about it.
The ordination of gays and lesbians is an outrage to the Word of God but these wolves in
sheep's clothing do not give a wit about the Word of God. It is all about themselves and their pomp and ceremony and the delusion that they somehow are pleasing to God!
What a joke! God has given these apostates over to their seared conscience to fornicate with whomever they wish and they think that God is pleased with them.
They do violence to the Word of God and prance around in clown get ups thinking that they are doing something of value or worth.
They are following their Father…Satan…who is quite pleased with their antics.
God is not mocked. All is being watched and noted.
Ichabod is upon that church. For those who are of the Lord, you need to flee from that
camp of heretics before the ground is opened up and they are swallowed.
God does not countenance fools playing with his Word with impunity. They know better but
they are making up their own gospel as they go along.
These are both exciting times and terrible times that we are experiencing. Exciting because Jesus is coming soon and terrible because faith in the inerrancy of the Word of God is being discarded without care or thought.
May the Lord rebuke both Robinson and Glasspool for their defiant sins and may the Lord
rebuke the “church” leadership that approved of this nonsense. It is obvious that those that voted for this charade know nothing of the Word of God or his decrees but yet they profess to be wise! They are in fact FOOLS.
TO: THOMASBWOODWARD: My friend your feeble attempts to twist scripture to justify the sins of Robinson and Glasspool will not work. God is not going to change his moral law to suit your
perversity of condoning gay and lesbians and gay and lesbians being in church leadership.
You can try to intellectualize all you want, the Word of God trumps your meager intellect.
Read Romans for starters about how God feels about the sexually immoral and then you can go to Revelations to see their end…that is, if you care to do so.
Why is it that gays and lesbians always avoid the clear import of scripture that damns their
sinful lifestyles and try to resurrect off point scriptures that they believe will support them?
Simple. They want to have their own brand of righteousness and not submit to what God has already said about the sinful nature of mankind. In essence, they are telling God he is wrong and they are right.
The same old story that Satan used in the Garden of Eden and people still would rather run from God than to him for the remission of their sins.
Tom: you are engaging in pure idle nonsense when you remotely intimate that David and
Jonathan had a sexual relationship. I have heard that poppycock from other gays who are
desperate to try to find anything in scripture to justify their abhorrent behavior.
Sorry Tom…no cigar. By the way, Paul was speaking by the unction of the Holy Spirit when he gave the prohibitions in Romans and other cites that you vigorously try to deny with
your man made doctrines.
Same old story as heard initially from Satan in the Garden….did God really say…..?
Tom, you are cut from the same cloth as your father the Devil who is the father of all lies.
Tom, unless you repent and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, you eternal home is hell.
Not my words….the words of your Judge…who is Jesus… who is God in the flesh.
It is amazing the lengths the gay community will go through in order to trash the Word of God
to try to placate their own troubled conscience about their sins.
Tom, you need to change your reading materials from the gay supporters of their sins to
the Word of God in the hopes that the Holy Spirit of God will have mercy on you and remove the shingles from your eyes and the built up wax from your plugged ears so you can ear the
gospel message and believe.
Tom: No…you do not believe the gospel of Jesus as found in the N.T. You believe your
personal gospel that you have cobbled together from various sources that exempts you from the judgement of Jesus.
Nice try…your delusion knows no bounds. You are not a Christian. Do not fool yourself with your humanistic philosophy. You believe a different gospel and according to the N.T. is not the gospel that was once and for delivered to the saints (Jude).
Tom…you need to quit lying to yourself and realize that your sins and the Word of God can not
reside together. You think they can under your misguided thought of “love”. Love also involves
both mercy and judgment…not the condoning of sin.
For you to remotely think that Jesus is winking at your sins is ludicrous. If you refuse the
offer of God for the removal of your sins, you are rejecting the only hope you have to
make heaven your eternal home.
I have said enough to you on this subject. Obviously you are hell bent on believing that you
sins are OK with God. It shows that you do not know the Word of God or the Savior because
as Jesus said in the book of John, if you were of God, you would listen to what Jesus is saying.
But, you are not of God but of your father the devil and it is to him that you have pledged your
allegiance.
“….He has given them over to a reprobate mind…” and this is what it looks like.
