Pink Ouija Board Targeting Young Girls

PAWTUCKET, Rhode Island, February 5, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A boycott has been launched against toymaker giant Hasbro and Toys R Us for making and marketing a pink Ouija board targeting girls as young as eight years old.

The board’s Toys R Us webpage – which has evidently been recently removed – boasted: “It has always been mysterious. It has always been mystifying. And now the OUIJA Board is just for you, girl.” The board comes with 72 “fun questions” to ask, including: “Who will call/text me next? Will I be a famous actor someday? Who wishes they could trade places with me?”

However, a glow-in-the-dark Ouija board is still available on the Toys R Us website, which is also marketed for ages 8 and older. The product description suggests: “Make up your own questions, and let the OUIJA Board satisfy your curiosity in virtually endless ways. OUIJA Board will answer. It’s just a game – or is it?”

The vast majority of online comments, both positive and negative, on the glow-in-the-dark version strongly emphasized that the Ouija board is potentially dangerous and “not a game.” Several comments discussed in depth how to treat the “spirits” of the game politely, in order to avoid attack. Only about half a dozen comments out of 123 claimed the game was “just a toy.”

“This may be a game to you, but I assure you whomever you are playing with on the ‘other side’ it is not a game to them,” wrote one contributor.

Another user wrote: “Although I love this game, it is very definitley (sic) NOT suited for 8 year olds, considering it works most of the time, and they could be talking to evil spirits.” Read the whole article here.

The positive thing about the “girlie-girl” or “just-my-size” Ouija board is that it will better prepare these children for contemplative prayer and other dark spiritual adventures when they grow up!

I don't know why the uproar now – this pink ouija board was out ONE YEAR AGO at Toys R Us. Back then, I talked about it on my blog, along with a scan of the Toys R Us ad that featured it. But better late than never that people protest it, I suppose.

I never heard about it until now. I'm not sure it's worth “protesting”, but it's staying out of my house.

    Food for thought…
Although I do not endorse the Ouija game, from what I have seen it is a little like the “turn the 8-ball upside down and read the bottom” game.
It is a game that most all do not put any stock in…

    Which leads me to ask…
    or rather make an observance…

Most Youth Group kids and most Adult Church Goers do the same wit the Bible.
They do not put much stock in it.
Bibles even come in “Hot Pink” for girls now.

They pray when they want something from the American genie god called “jesus” (jesus here kept i lower case to distinguish from the Real Son of God Jesus).
The American jesus is treated much like a Ouija-board, or a Santa-Clause.

The christianity taught in most churches is an Arminian mess, giving chance of hearing the gospel and mans decisions to be the chief influences in salvation…

So Ouija board or modern American Church… There is not much difference I can see.

Divination is condemned by the Bible. Moving your heart shaped “planchette” around on the board is your tool into the occult. Forbidden nevertheless.

Where we spend eternal life is not a joke. Satan is not a joke, talking to spirits is not a game. It may seem to be a game to the player but after seeing first hand the evil that surrounds us in this world and having lived in a house that was haunted by something evil, having been punched in the face while sleeping as a child, water turning on and off itself, being locked in closets, and other things in a witchcraft filled town, I know it is real and is dangerous. I no longer live in that town or state and I am proud to say that Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. Who do players thing they are contacting when they follow the directions on the “game”? You never know who you are talking to. God shares his words with us in the Bible with messages of love and nurturing for all, the same message for all, not through mystery and confusion with this game. Our souls and spirits are not a game. If we need to seek wisdom and answers to questions talking to the Lord in prayer is the way to receive peace about the direction our lives should go.

I wholeheartedly disagree. The Bible is the word of God. I take it very seriousl and put all my stock in it. I agree that it is selfish and with wrong motive to pray to the Lord for things as if he were a genie. Those who have a personal relationship with Christ pray to get to know Him better and truly to seek out His will for their lives. I am American and know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior am sorry you feel this way. What Jesus has done for us on the cross is real and amazing. I hope all who you refer to in your message above are able to discover the real Jesus, not deceived by who some people make Him out to be.

To All Parents: This is not a joke. Do not…I repeat…do not under any circumstances allow, permit, condone or put up with you or your family or child or children being exposed to or playing with an Ouija Board. The secret behind the board is demonic spirits that will communicate with the persons playing this diabolical game.
With a Ouija Board, you are permitting unseen demonic forces to enter into your lives under the guise of a “harmless and fun” game. It is not harmless. It will cause havoc in your lives.
In the strongest terms possible, I state: DO NOT USE OR PLAY WITH A OUIJA BOARD!!!
If you have done so, you need to repent before God and ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ into your life. That is the only way you will rid yourself of this demonic influence that you have let in.

Do not let the inane comments of Michael Adams influence you. He is not of the Lord and as such his useless comments should be disregarded.
