Hip Pastor Blasts Those Who Want to Go Deeper into God’s Word

Rock star pastor Perry Noble of NewSpring Church in Anderson, South Carolina, says you are a jackass if you’re sick of shallow seeker sermons and want to go deeper into God’s Word. Yes, you read that sentence correctly. Noble has led the nation’s lemming pastors into new frontiers of circus church. Who would have ever thought to use AC/DC’s Highway to Hell as a church prelude before Noble hit the scene? You can see a clip of Noble here decrying those who want spiritual meat from the pulpit. It’s really that bad out there.

There is another that doesn't want us to read the Word of God…his name is lucifer. Birds of a feather blaspheme together.

As I continue to be in the painful refining fire of the Lord it makes me weep that these “men of God” are lying deceivers in His NAME…The true gospel is not being preached, the true believers are under severe attack and persecution from the enemy, a REAL church service where the Holy SPirit is allowed to move and the Bible is preached in fullness seems to be a thing of the past…it's like a spiritual wasteland….oh we have lots of “Chrisitans doing ministry, in ministry or staring up a ministry” but HOW MANY OF THEM ARE WALKING WITH THE LORD? I mean walking like Abraham walked, like Noah walked, are we building our own kingdoms while failing to advance HIS KINGDOM. Those who profess Christ are not all His.

Satan calls and impassions men like Noble to preach lies and increase Hell, other than that they would have a regular 9 to 5 job.

Took a quick look at this church's website. Apparently a very effective personality, in that there are four (4) locations in SC, 10,000 attendees (and/or members), and a “web service”. Then there is the personal website of this pastor in which he identifies with II Cor.5:13, in that he says he is “out of his mind”. Back to the video: The devil is in the details. In typical emerging/growth church fashion, he scolds the congregation in a condescending tone, making them feel guilty for wanting to learn more about God's word, as opposed to just doing more for the Lord (or him and his cash cow ministry). Something like faith without works, I suppose, was the point. Trouble is, one does not preclude the other. How can 10,000 or even one swallow this you ask? Only if your ears are so itchy that you will believe anything these so-called pastor-teachers spew out, just like Obama's gospel of change. These are the control freak wolves in sheep's clothing who are devouring the flock's money, talent, gifts and time to build an imperial legacy. Spiritual growth in the knowledge and admonition of the Lord is way down on that list.

New Spring is 5 miles wide but 1 inch deep…and that is how Noble wants it.

Perry Noble didn’t say you’re a jackass if you want to go deeper. He did say you’re a jackass if you complain of being held back in your relationship with God for lack of obedience. The point, I believe, was to help individuals understand worship doesn’t start or stop at church – it’s a lifestyle that consumes 24/7 of your life. My guess is that the majority of the problem with his statements revolve entirely around his choice to use the word “jackass”.

Maybe NewSpring is large, but shallow. And maybe what I've said has been pointed out (and ignored already). Discernment is a spiritual gift as well, one that few apparently have or desire.

And I'm from Texas with no ties to Perry Noble or NewSpring…just an observer.

I could not agree with Andy more. I am not a fan of Tony Campolo, but he wrote a book that has a title that applies in this situation—Adventures in Missing the Point. We cannot say that we are so deep if we are not serving, if we are not tithing, and if we are not following the Way of Jesus. I do not necessarily agree with how Perry put it. But his point is NOT that if you want to go deeper in God's Word that you are a jack—.
I love what John Maxwell said. He was right on. We need to be more about applying what we already know to do, than “gaining” more knowledge. As Paul said, we can have all knowledge but it is useless if we don't have love.
