Teen Fights Vaccine for Sexually Transmitted Virus

Worldnetdaily.com reports that a teen girl is fighting to not have to get the vaccine for a sexually transmitted virus. Gardisil was added to the list of required vaccines for female immigrants, and the girl is protesting it because of religious beliefs about premarital sex. Read more here.

The only problem with her position is that STDs aren't limited to individuals who engage in willful premarital sex.

Other women get STDs for the most horrific of reasons. It's called rape.

So I guess, I'm with Jaime. I don't understand the problem either.
  • I simply don't understand this. Getting inoculated will not make her sexually active before marriage. What if her future husband is not being as responsible as she is? What if her future spouse has an affair?

I plan on having all of my kids take the Gardisil shot or equivalent before leaving for college. I do not want my sons passing on such a virus anymore than I want my daughter to have to struggle with it.

There was some discussion of these shots in the news last week. Seems they are not as effective as the public is being to believe. They do not protect against all or even most forms of sexually transmitted diseases. They are real expensive though...set of three shots costing $100's each. I think it's just another boondoogle for the drug companies to make some big bucks off insurance companies.

Jaime, it is literally natural that you "don't understand" these things. Your worldly nature most dertermines your understanding and ability to make decisions (this would explain your trust in the world when it comes to the safety, health, education and general well-being of your own children). You're going to be amazed at your new "understanding" once you've accepted Jesus Christ as your saviour! It's been 30 years and I'm still amazed at His grace, mercy and forgiveness. I look forward to being your brother!
  • Thank you for your concern, but I think I will keep focusing on Jesus for my salvation instead of the GOP, WorldNetDaily, Prejean, Obama, Coulter, or any of these other Pharisees.

In the Book of Mathew we are taught to avoid public attention for phony righteousness. I think these people who make headlines by their grandiose and worldly statements are receiving their reward now. What is the difference between fasting or praying long and loud for worldly attention and refusing to take inoculations for the sake of such attention? What is the difference between a Pharisee and someone who homeschools seeking such attention?

Christians need to get back to the things that matter. Many of us have lost our sincerity and are too easily led by the Conservative talking heads who use us for the sake of their own power. We allowed pure, sincere Christianity, the kind of faith that changes lives for real, to become adulterated during the Regan years.

Jaime, are you real or are you teasing us for the fun of it? No one could be as naive and factually unbalanced as you appear. I think you are one of those people who constantly provoke others on boards for the fun of it. Come clean...really...

  • I am for real, but perhaps I should ease away from this message board. I know my ideology is polar opposite of most who comment here, so I probably need to back off and let you guys have your party.

All it takes is a little common observation and plain understanding. It makes me wonder what type of towns and cities people live in that they can listen to Crosstalk and agree with what the hosts and guests say about the state of our government, public schools, and country. Kentucky must be a dream even with the problems we have!

Ok, if you are real and not an instigator, I fear for your soul. You claim to know Jesus but the 'ideology' you support is totally foreign to the Bible. The posts here are sometimes tounge-in-cheek but mostly they are mainline Christianity and doctrinally sound. Crosstalk is definitely doctrinally sound as a program. The fact that you find it so counter to yourself yet continue to show up here may mean that God is working on you. I encourage you to prayerfully consider your salvation based upon scripture. Read Romans and see if it produces conviction.

Listen to Paul Washer and John MacArthur on youtube or on thier websites. They preach great messages about the hallmarks of the saved vs. the lost.

If you are real, everyone on this board wishes for you to be sound in the faith. If you are just having fun at our expense, I hope you have enjoyed our concern and prayers for you...

I'm not "concerned", I was just stating a fact. We don't have to "focus on Jesus" for salvation. You always seem to talk about making Jesus a certain way to suit you. satan is the "author of confusion" and you are very confused about Gods plan of salvation and how it is attained by man. It's (salvation) not something that we can decide how much of it we want or adjust to our particular lifestyle. And it's more than fire insurance. I don't think one could have a correct relationship with the Creator of the universe and not be "grandiose" and draw some kind of "attention". You, according to you, trust in the world to take care of you and your children. You, as a nonbeliever, have no say in telling us (Christians) to "get back to the things that matter" when what matters to you is...I'm really not sure what matters to you. You obviously reject the truth of Christ because you don't trust Him with your own life. I really have a hard time understanding what your thinking is. Do you really think you've met Jesus Christ and that you know Him personally?
  • I am not certain how you come to some of your conclusions based on my posts. It is probably me; I am not making myself clear.
  • JSRose
The conviction that the Holy Spirit has you under is perfectly clear. Been there...stay there. Please don't "back off" or leave us. I mean that. I'm also very sincere when I say that I look forward to seeing what the revelation of God is going to make you.
