Pastors Test New Hate Crimes Law

The Christian Post reports on a pastors’ gathering outside the Justice Department this week to address the new hate crimes law. There has been great concern that this law would shut down Christian speech that opposes homosexuality under the guise of inciting hate.

Dr. Rick Scarborough of Vision America Action said, “If this law is used to silence me or any of these preachers for speaking the truth, then we will be forced to conscientiously defy it,” Scarborough declared. “That is my calling as a Christian and my right as an American citizen.”

Does anyone here think, or even think it possible that in Biblical days, the Apostles would have paid any attention to such proposed secular laws or followed any of the Emporor's similar decrees?

It's not only pastors who have an obligation to speak the truth but it is EVERY Christian's responsibility. As an individual US citizen, no one has the right to stifle my speech. And if that day comes I will still speak the truth. And people forget that when you stifle someone from speaking you are also depriving the listener if that person chooses to listen.

Both you guys are correct and in addition to this the Hate Crimes Law violates the 1st (free speech),5th (double jeopardy) and 14th (equal protection) amendments big time.
