There are at least two major directions by which which the church can go wrong. One is to have not boundaries, exactly, but something like the old Berlin Wall, or maybe the Great Walla of China around the church, being rather antisocial and expecting sinners to be sort of culture Conservtive Baptists just waiting to hear the gospel. The other is to have no boundaries of any relevance whaever, and to be so populist that it would be hard to differeniate between the rock show and self-esteem/pop-psychology presentation at the "hcurch" and one going on in any other secular setting. On the latter score, some have said the church has often been losing people not because they ask too much of them but because they don't ask enough. If people don't have something (or Someone) worth dying for, do they really have anything worth living for?

The problem is that even churches that will stand against homosexuality will tolerate divorce and remarriage. Homosexuality is evil, but so is adultery.

This was a great episode that reminds us we have to remain steadfast in our daily walk. Many churches today are clipping pieces of the Bible and teaching out of context for a "feel good" and "all accepting" atmosphere. We can read the Words of Truth and be firm in our convictions through Christ Jesus without the extra padding of worldly attractiveness. Jesus built his Kingdom through the preaching of the Word and relationships. It is up to us, not the church, not the pastor (though they have their higher accountability) to engage with others to retrieve souls for the Kingdom of God as He has commanded.
